Denison first-year Tiffany Davis won twice, leading the Big Red to four victories at the 2011 Denison Invitational from Deeds Field-Piper Stadium in Granville, Ohio.
Davis edged Wooster's Stephanie McShane by .07 seconds in the 100 meter dash following her winning time of 12.80. She followed that with a victory in the 200 meter dash in 25.94. Davis also anchored the 4x100 relay and the 4x400 relay teams which finshed second. In the night's final event, the 4x400 relay, Davis came from behind and just missed overtaking Wooster's anchor by just .05 at the finish line. The relay team which was made up of Lianne McCluskey, Ashley Putnam, Davis and Beth Armitage turned in a time of 4:14.10.
Denison's other two wins came from Christa Meyers in the 100 meter hurdles and Putnam in the 800 meter run. Meyers topped Ohio Wesleyan's Clare Duffy with a time of 16.72 in the 100 hurdles and Putnam won the 800 by nearly three seconds with her time of 2:19.98. Teammate Ani Mutafova placed fourth in the 800 while Meyers also turned in a fifth-place showing in the high jump.
Other top finishers for DU included Michelle Clark, Julie Rotramel and Mutafova who placed 3-4-5 in the 1,500 meters, respectively. Georgie Strohmenger placed second in the long jump and Andrea Pion took fifth in the triple jump. In the 400 meter dash it was McCluskey who placed fourth in 1:04.31 and Maggie Burnside who took fifth in 1:04.61.
