Denison freshman Ajai Brooks was named North Coast Athletic Conference Women's Sprinter of the Week after collecting two wins at Carnegie Mellon on Saturday.
Brooks posted four top-2 finishes in Pittsburgh, Pa. last weekend. The freshman's day was highlighted by victories in both the 100 and 200-meter dash events. The freshman turned in a meet-record time of 12.61 in the 100 dash, which moved her into fourth on the school's top performer's list. In the 200, Brooks posted a winning time of 25.26, which put her second on the top performer's list. She also currently boasts the fastest times in the NCAC in both events.
In addition to her individual wins, Brooks also ran the anchor leg on two second-place relay teams. The foursome of senior Aedin Brennan, Macy Diaz, Kalani Rose and Brooks clocked in at 51.01 in the 4x100 before closing out the day with a time of 4:13.99 in the 4x400 relay.
The Big Red returns to action next weekend (April 1-2) at the VertKlasse Meeting held at High Point University in High Point, N.C.
