Hall sets school record at High Point

Sophomore Hannah Hall paced the Big Red with a school-record performance in the high jump on Friday at the VertKlasse Meeting held at High Point University in High Point, N.C.

Hall won group B of the women's high jump after successfully clearing 5'7". That performance bested Katherine Krulia's school-record performance by 2.50" while also surpassing her previous personal record by 2.75". Hall now currently holds the second-best high jump mark in all of Division III.

In other field event action, senior Aedin Brennan placed 16th among 34 athletes after tossing the javelin 108'4". Sophomore Arlesha Cospy took 27th in the shot put with a toss of 37'2.50".

Sophomore Emily Grabauskas placed first in her 1,500-meter run heat and 28th in the 91-person field after clocking in at 4:54.80. Senior Kate Benson was 30th in the event with a time of 4:55.53, while Phoebe Osterhout's time of 5:18.05 earned her fourth in her heat and 52nd overall. Freshman Alyssa Bahel took ninth in the final event of the night, the 10,000-meter run, after crossing the finishing line in 40:14.02.

In the 5,000-meter event, senior Lindsey Studebaker paced a quartet of DU runners. Studebaker turned in a time of 19:18.96 which landed her in 23rd out of 48 athletes. Claire Barcelo was 35th at (20:27.03), while Molly Korest and Gwen Gunter turned in times of 21:41.46 and 22:41.94, respectively.

The Big Red will close out competition at the VerkKlasse Meeting on Saturday. Events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
