The Denison women's track and field squad picked up five victories and totaled 10 top-3 performances at Friday's Big Red Invitational held in Granville, Ohio.
Senior Emily Lamm, sophomores Arlesha Cospy, Phoebe Osterhout, and Emily Grabauskas, and freshman Ajai Brooks were responsible for DU's five wins on Friday. Lamm led of trio of Big Red runners that occupied the top-3 slots in the 3,000. The senior set the pace with a time of 10:40.06, while classmate Lindsey Studebaker was second (10:56.81) and freshman Alyssa Bahel took third (10:56.93).
Cospy was victorious in the discus with toss of 149', besting Oberlin sophomore Ana Richardson by nearly 11 feet. The Big Red sophomore also took third in the shot put with a heave of 37'3.25". Osterhout won the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.18, while Grabauskas took the 800-meter title (2:20.25) and Brooks clocked in at 12.58 in the 100-meter dash.
Denison received second-place performances from sophomore Hannah Hall and the 4x400 relay team. Hall was runner-up in the high jump after clearing 5'1.75". She also took sixth in the javelin with a toss of 84'8". The grouping of Osterhout, Grabauskas, Kalani Rose and Shelby Jude placed second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:20.42.
Denison returns to action next weekend's at the 2016 North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Meet. Granville will host the two-day event that begins on Friday and will run through Saturday.
