DU women open season at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – Senior Anne Lee and junior Hannah Hall paced the Big Red women's track and field team at Mount Union's Toy Drive Invitational with a pair of victories on Saturday.

Lee picked up a win in the triple jump with a combined leap of 33'3.25" while also finishing sixth in the long jump with a final mark of 15'7.50". Hall was also victorious in the high jump after successfully clearing 5'1.75".

Junior Arlesha Cospy posted two top-three finishes on the afternoon. Cospy opened the day with a third-place showing in the shot put with a toss of 39'9.75". The junior closed out her day with a runner-up finish in the weight throw with a mark of 48'3.25".

Freshman Bryn Tomczak landed on DU's top performer's list in her debut meet, finishing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.09. That time was good enough for third on the list. Junior Jessica Nix turned in three top-8 performances on the afternoon, highlighted by a sixth-place showing in the high jump (4'7.75"). Nix also placed eighth in both the long jump (15'0.75") and 60 hurdles (10.30). Sophomore Mackenzie Mason posted a personal record in the pole vault after clearing 8'8.75", a 2.75" improvement on her previous record.

Denison will be back in action on January 21 when they host the annual Denison Lid-Lifter at the Mitchell Fieldhouse.
