Denison sophomore Ajai Brooks will be making her second-consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championship after qualifying in both the 60 and 200-meter events. This year, Brooks will compete alongside junior teammate Hannah Hall who will be making her indoor nationals debut.
A three-time All-American as a freshman, Brooks currently ranks tied for fourth in the 60-meter dash, an event she did not compete in last season at nationals. The first-year sprinter ran a school-record time of 7.69 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Last Chance meet held at Denison's Mitchell Fieldhouse on Feb. 24.
Brooks will also compete in the 200-meter dash for the second time at the NCAA Indoor meet after posting the ninth-best time in the event at last weekend's NCAC Championship. Her winning time of 25.34 secured her spot in the 17-athlete field. At last year's event, Brooks earned her first All-American honor with a seventh-place finish in the 200.
Coming off her first-ever trip to nationals last spring, Hall will make her NCAA Indoor Championship debut this Saturday. The junior jumper enters the national meet tied for fifth in Division III with a mark of 5'7.75" which she achieved last Saturday at the NCAC Championship meet.
Brooks will begin competition on Friday at 2:35 p.m. with the prelims of the 60-meter dash. Roughly an hour later, she will take part in the prelims of the 200. The 60-meter finals are scheduled for 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, while the 200 finals are slated to be run at 3:35 p.m. Hall will compete in the high jump on Saturday at 1 p.m. All times are Central Standard Time.
