WOOSTER, Ohio -- Denison women's track and field earned a pair of individual victories on Saturday afternoon en route to a sixth-place finish at the Fighting Scots Invitational hosted by the College of Wooster. The Big Red finished with 56.5 points, trailing behind Oberlin College in fifth with 69 points. Wittenberg University won the day with 133 team points, and Allegheny College followed with 110 points.

Thanks to seniors Arlesha Cospy and Hannah Hall, Denison took first in the women's high jump and weight throw events. Nix also added a top-five finish in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fourth with a time of 10.31.

In the weight throw, Cospy came out on top with a throw of 47'11.75", and freshman Anna Vrancken placed fifth with a personal-best of 37'6.00". Vrancken also posted a PR in the shot put, placing second with a 34'2.25", while Maddy Uible trailed her in fifth place with a throw of 30'11.00".

Freshman Molly Smith made a name for herself in the 400-meter event, finishing in second place with a time 1:04.31. Smith also led the Big Red in the 200-meter race, clocking in at 30.09, and good for 12th place. Sophomore Sydney Chandler checked in just 2.31 seconds behind Smith in the 400, garnering one of DU's eleven top-10 finishes on the day with a time of 1:06.62 in eighth place.

Denison's final top-10 finish of the day went to senior Phoebe Osterhout, who placed eighth in the 3000-meter race with a time of 11:48.48. Gutelius finished just on the outside of the top-10 in the 60-meter dash, landing in 11th place with a time of 9.01.

The Big Red will return home on Saturday, February 3 when they take part in the Bob Shannon Invitational at Mitchell Fieldhouse. They will also compete in the All-Ohio Combined Events meet on the same date in Delaware, Ohio at Ohio Wesleyan.
