LEXINGTON, Va. -- On the final day of action at the 2018 Washington & Lee Carnival in Lexington, Va., Denison women's track and field placed six finishers in the top-10, headlined by an Arlesha Cospy victory in the shot put and two new personal records.

Cospy garnered the Big Red's lone victory on the day when her best throw in the shot put went 38'2.25" (11.64 meters). Freshman Anna Vrancken followed in 11th place with a distance of 32'10.50" (10.02 meters).

In the women's javelin event, senior Hannah Hall led the DU finishers in sixth place with a new personal-best throw of 96'9" (29.48 meters), with Maddy Uible landing in 15th when her best throw went 64'0.75" (19.52 meters). Rounding out the field events, Mackenzie Mason finished 13th overall in the pole vault with a maximum height of 8'6.25" (2.60 meters).

Transitioning to the track, Hall and Mason joined Danni Gutelius and Jessica Nix in the 4X100 meter relay to place fifth with a time of 53.55. Nix went on to finish the 100-meter hurdles in eighth place, logging a time of 17.22, while Gutelius earned a 20th place finish in the 400-meter event (1:06.40).

The 800-meter race saw freshman Molly Smith drop her personal record to 2:23.31, finishing in sixth, and Sydney Chandler placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking in at 1:13.16.

The Denison women will return to action in two weeks when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to compete in the Carnegie Mellon Quad Meet on March 30-31.
