OBERLIN, Ohio -- Thanks to a pair of top-five finishes on day two of the competition, senior Jessica Nix finished third overall in the heptathlon at the 2018 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championships on Sunday afternoon at Oberlin College. Recording a new personal-best 3,575 points, Nix trailed only Wooster's Carolyn Webster (4,129) in second place and Ohio Wesleyan's Emily Brown who won the event with a score of 4,235.
Nix enjoyed her best performance of the day in the long jump event, where she placed third overall with a jump of 15'6.75" (4.74 meters).
In the javelin throw, Nix earned her third personal record of the weekend when she reached a distance of 82'8" (25.21 meters) to finish in fifth place.
She rounded out her heptathlon performance with an eighth-place showing in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:51.83.
Nix and the rest of her Big Red team will return to action this Friday through Saturday, May 4-5, when they travel to Allegheny College to take part in the 2018 NCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
