WOOSTER, Ohio - Denison women's track & field placed eighth overall on Saturday at the NCAC Indoor Track & Field Championship hosted at the College of Wooster's Scot Center. Totaling 18.70 points over the two-day event, the Big Red finished 4.7 points behind seventh-place Kenyon (23.4) and 12.3 points behind DePauw in sixth place (31). Oberlin College earned its third-straight conference title after recording 197 team points.
The Big Red tallied five finishes in the top 10 on Saturday, including three in the field events. In the shot put, sophomore Anna Vrancken led Denison in sixth place after reaching a final mark of 35'10.50" (10.93 meters). Ashley Schmoll followed with a throw of 35'9.25" (10.90 meters) in seventh place, and Leah Ackerman landed in 11th at 33'11.50" (10.35 meters).
In the high jump, Danni Gutelius finished in a tie for eighth place after reaching 4'8.75" (1.44 meters).
On the track, Sarah Radziewicz placed 13th overall in the 3,000-meter run after clocking in at 11:12.05.
In the relay events, Gutelius, Schmoll, Molly Smith, and Mackenzie Mason placed seventh overall on a time of 1:53.26 in the 4X200 meter relay. Smith and Gutelius also joined Sydney Lerda and Allie Holmes in the 4X400 meter relay to log an eighth-place finish in 4:24.10.
Denison finishes their indoor season with two team finishes in the top five and will return to action on Saturday, March 16 when they open their outdoor season in New Concord, Ohio at Muskingum University's Muskie Duals.
