OBERLIN, Ohio – Denison's Ashley Schmoll finished eighth overall in the heptathlon at the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events Championship held at Oberlin College on Sunday afternoon. Totaling 3,008 points for the weekend, Schmoll finished 332 points behind Wooster's Jena Copley in seventh place (3,340). Carolyn Webster from Wooster won the event with a total score of 4,263.
Schmoll's best showing came in the javelin throw where the freshman reached a final mark of 87'7" (26.55 meters) to place third overall.
In the long jump, Schmoll posted a final distance of 14'2.25" (4.32 meters) to finish in seventh place. She rounded out the competition by placing eighth overall in the 800-meter run at 3:18.32.
Schmoll and the Big Red will return to action next Friday and Saturday, May 3-4, when they compete in the 2019 NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio.
