CLEVELAND, Ohio – Denison volleyball was recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon when freshman Lucy Anderson was named the NCAC Player of the Week after her impressive numbers helped the Big Red post three-straight wins over Wilmington, Capital, and La Roche.
Highlighted by a combined .404 hit percentage through each of the three wins, Anderson ended the week with 21 kills on 47 attacks, eight blocks, five service aces, and 2.63 kills per set. Anderson's best showing came against Wilmington where she silenced the Quakers with seven kills, five blocks, and a .538 hit rate. She added four service aces in DU's 3-0 sweep of Capital University and tallied six kills on 11 attempts in the win over La Roche.
A native of Bloomington, Ind., Anderson currently leads the team with 111 kills and a .323 hit percentage, which ranks third in the conference. She has also added 15 service aces and 37 total blocks to help the Big Red sit at 8-5 on the season.
Anderson & Co. will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 when Denison hosts Bluffton University at 7 p.m. at Livingston Gymnasium.
