CLEVELAND, Ohio – Denison volleyball junior Emma Woerner was recognized as the North Coast Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Monday afternoon following back-to-back sweeps over DePauw and Hiram this past week. This also marks the first NCAC Player of the Week honor for Woerner during her career.
Also helping the Big Red string together a nine-match winning streak since Sept. 14, Woerner highlighted Denison's attack against the Tigers when she tallied a team-best 13 kills on 30 attempts for an impressive .400 hit percentage. The junior also chipped in eight digs and two service aces in DU's 3-0 win against DePauw.
In Saturday's shutout of Hiram, Woerner finished second on the team with 10 kills and added 11 digs with a .269 kill rate against the Terriers. Leading the Big Red to their longest win streak since 2001, Woerner finished the week with 23 kills, 19 digs, and three service aces. She currently ranks second on the team with 148 kills and leads the conference with 39 service aces so far this season.
