Denison women begin 2019 campaign at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio – Thanks to a trio of top-15 finishes from the Big Red runners, Denison women's cross country opened their 2019 season on Friday evening as they competed at the Kenyon College Quad Meet hosted in Gambier, Ohio.

Competing against area opponents such as Kenyon, Ohio Wesleyan, Muskingum, and Mount Vernon Nazarene on the 5K course, the DU women were led by sophomore Emily Willson who placed 10th overall after clocking in at 21:14.5. Senior Erin O'Connor followed by less than four seconds to finish in 11th place at 21:18.3. Sophomore Meagan Balch rounded out the top-15 for the Big Red as she placed 13th overall on a final time of 21:26.2.

Freshman Carolyn Trent finished in 17th place at 21:37.9, while Aileen Schretzmayer (27th – 22:06.7), Sarah Radziewicz (29th - 22:17.6), and Mallory Tedor (30th – 22:19.6) closed out the top-30.

Allie Holmes (22:32.0), Sydney Lerda (22:47.4), Merritt Newton (22:56.2), Roberta Fisher (23:11.5), Angela Cuiffo (23:40.7), Anna Lindower (23:46.7), and Audrey Corrigan (23:58.0) also competed for the Big Red.

Denison will return to action next Thursday, Sept. 5 when they host the College of Wooster for a traditional dual meet in Granville, Ohio.
